Since 1960, to speak of CoopeTarrazú is synonymous with quality coffee but also with promoting economic and social development in the region of Los Santos, Costa Rica.

On October 13, 1960 a group of 228 producers founded CoopeTarrazú, whose drive led to the consolidation of the organization, which currently groups close to 5,000 producers, who depend on coffee to support their families.

Our coffee is cultivated between 1,200 and 1,900 meters above sea level in ideal climate and soil conditions for the crop. From here we encourage good environmental and social practices that give unique characteristics to our bean.

Coffee remains the central axis of CoopeTarrazú and the Los Santos Zone. Around it, personalized attention services are developed for coffee growers, as well as complementary commercial businesses that generate employment and benefits to the community.

CoopeTarrazú

CoopeTarrazú is a democratic cooperative of over 4,650 smallholder members in the Los Santos region of Costa Rica — one of the most respected coffee-producing areas in the world. Founded in 1960 by 228 producers seeking fair control over their own commercialization, the cooperative today controls the entire production process from cherry to export, and employs approximately 10,000 people annually in and around the Tarrazú region.

Roughly 80% of members farm fewer than 4 hectares. The cooperative exists as a collective voice for these small producers — providing technical assistance, low-cost inputs, access to financing, and a consistent path to the specialty market.
