In 1902, an Italian family embarked on a journey that would eventually lead to the creation of Daterra Farms. Settling in Campinas, Brazil, they began planting coffee and educating locals on how to roast it properly. Over the years, the family business evolved, but their connection to coffee remained strong. In 1976, they returned to agriculture and founded Daterra, meaning “From the Earth.”

Daterra Farms, located in the city of Patrocínio, is among the oldest coffee plantations in the Brazilian Cerrado region. The farm’s location offers high altitude terroirs and a desert-like climate, providing unique flavors and aroma profiles for their coffee. Their commitment to sustainability led to the creation of the Program for Environmental Adequacy (PEA), which helped recover the area’s ecosystem and allowed them to start producing high-quality coffee.

One of Daterra’s standout coffee varieties is Villa. With a score of 84, Villa is processed naturally and pulped, resulting in a coffee that tastes like a dessert. The aroma of caramel is very present, and in flavor, it becomes more tactile, reminding one of dulce de leche and hazelnuts while also showing some citric acidity. The body is, of course, super velvety.
Daterra’s journey was not easy or fast, but their resilience and commitment to the Triple Bottom Line concept of “People, Planet, and Profit” have led to their success. Today, they are proud of their achievements and continue to innovate, aiming to protect and improve the Cerrado Bioma, the second most important hot spot in the world. Their story is a testament to their dedication to producing high-quality coffee in harmony with nature, making them a valued partner for any coffee lover.
